Microsoft Office 365’s Latest Features and Updates

Office 365 is a go-to platform for managing teams using cloud services similar to Microsoft Office. It integrates many automated tools and applications to help them stay organized when completing routine tasks.

As of 2019, Microsoft has announced major updates to make Office 365’s apps and services more efficient through improving the user experience. Here are some new capabilities available in the most recent version of Office 365:

Microsoft SharePoint

Microsoft SharePoint lets users organize, share, and edit documents to facilitate faster business processes.

  • UX updates to its dashboard, shared libraries, navigation buttons, and an app launcher
  • Now includes direct go-to links and authenticated SMTPs when sending emails
  • Workflow Manager 2019, PowerApps, and Flow are fully integrated via app sharing

FSLogix

FSLogix technology boosts the performance of Office 365 ProPlus as multiple users contribute to the same project.

  • Virtual office apps are faster and more reliable using an FSLogix container
  • Also compatible with hosted digital workspaces like Microsoft, Citrix, and VMware

OneDrive

OneDrive Files On-Demand saves hard drive space on user devices when they try to access files on OneDrive.

  • Users only need a single installation of the OneDrive app but still can create their own individual folders and files
  • Allows access to all their files in OneDrive while downloading the ones they’re using (distinguishes between online and offline)

Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook now offers faster access to user emails and calendar planners, on top of being able to check for accessibility issues.

  • Sync up inbox before Calendar to schedule events or keep up with a busy workflow
  • Reduce the number of folders that are synced by default and adds an admin option to calendars

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams has added new features to upgrade workplace chat rooms such as the ability to assign presenter and attendee roles.

  • Includes a per-machine installation for Chat and Collaboration on any desktop
  • Optimizes video streaming in Teams during calls and meetings by letting users pin multiple channels

Fluid Framework

Fluid Framework is a new web platform designed as an add-on to Office 365. It supports procedures involved in creating and editing documents, making them more flexible across collaborative teams.

  • Enables users to directly extract or share content from websites and apps using a process called co-authoring
  • Assists users with translating data, performing compliance checks, and deconstructing content into building blocks suitable for other formats

Word and Office 365

Microsoft Word Online includes Word Designer, Time-to-Read and Highlight Extraction, and artificial intelligence to make your writing appear more professional before it gets sent out.

Currently, Office 365 offers SharePoint for modifying listed files, Flow to display multi-stage processes, and PowerApps to create apps that will interact with libraries in SharePoint or any other cloud drive.

If you’re looking for a comprehensive Office 365 monitoring solution, then one that delivers on-demand network performance metrics would be your best bet.
